Do you think that even if they put a plugin out there months ago anyone would have used it with the current limitations? LP have probably been feeding back to Mozilla what they needed for a fully featured plugin bu Mozilla from what I can tell have been telling extensions devs that they'll just have to wait and make do with what's available and that whole classes of previous behaviours they have no intention of catering to any more. LP had the beta of the plugin out for weeks before and I tried it and it was as terrible as it currently is. Mozilla have forced everyone over to WE but they're not ready it seems. Maybe there are some things that they can do to get around the current Web Extensions framework limitations but I don't think that it would be this bad if WE were ready for prime time use. I expect that this is close to as good as they can get it. Well this plugin is built with Web Extensions technology. If they were, then they either have been actively not paying attention, or they just don't care. Given those time lines, LastPass should have been surprised or unprepared for this. None of this was hidden or a surprise announcement with Firefox 57.
It's only with 57 that WebExtensions became the ONLY API supported in Firefox. The WebExtensions framework was announced like 2 years ago, and has been supported in Firefox for at least a year to my knowledge. As far as I am concerned, LastPass really dropped the ball here. I'm not clear why we even are having these threads and discussions.
